Polling Rate Checker

Stop bottlenecking your hardware. Find out if your DPI is too low to saturate your 4000Hz mouse, or if your polling rate is causing micro-stutters on your 240Hz monitor.

The Hidden Truth About 4K & 8K Polling Rates

The "DPI Saturation" Problem

A massive mistake players make is buying a new 4000Hz or 8000Hz mouse (like the Razer Viper V3 or Logitech Superlight 2) but continuing to play on 400 DPI.

To send 4,000 updates to your computer every second, your mouse has to physically generate 4,000 "dots" of movement. At 400 DPI, your mouse simply cannot generate enough data points unless you are moving your arm at lightspeed. This causes dropped polls and horrific sensor stutter in-game. You must use at least 1600 DPI to saturate a 4K mouse.

But I don't want a fast Sensitivity!

This is the most common confusion. Raising your hardware DPI does not mean you have to play with a faster sensitivity. You simply lower your in-game sensitivity to compensate.

If you currently play on 400 DPI and 2.0 Sens, you can safely upgrade to 1600 DPI. You just need to use our eDPI Calculator or Converter to mathematically lower your in-game sensitivity to 0.5. Your aim will feel physically identical, but your mouse will capture 4x as much data.

Polling Rate vs. Monitor Refresh Rate (Hz)

The golden rule of PC gaming is that your mouse Polling Rate should be at least double (2x) your monitor's Refresh Rate.

If you buy a massive 360Hz or 540Hz esports monitor, but use an old 125Hz or 500Hz mouse, your monitor is literally drawing frames on the screen faster than your mouse can supply coordinate updates. This results in visual stuttering when you flick your crosshair.

The Esports Standard: The vast majority of Tier-1 Counter-Strike and Valorant professionals use 1000Hz at 800 DPI. This provides a flawless 1ms response time and perfectly saturates 144Hz and 240Hz monitors without causing CPU bottlenecking.
